Bound

My father was baptized and brought up in the faith. He was there when I was baptized, when Pam was baptized, when Melyssa was baptized, when Jacob was baptized, and now as Madelyn Miyako was baptized.

And the promises with which we are bound  . . .

Called by the Holy Spirit, trusting in the grace and love of God, do you desire to have your children baptized into Christ?Response: I do.

As you bring your children to receive the gift of baptism,
you are entrusted with responsibilities:
to live with them among God's faithful people,
bring them to the word of God and the holy supper,
teach them the Lord's Prayer, the Creed, and the Ten Commandments,
place in their hands the holy scriptures,
and nurture them in faith and prayer,
so that your children may learn to trust God,
proclaim Christ through word and deed,
care for others and the world God made,
and work for justice and peace.

Do you promise to help your children grow in the Christian faith and life?Response: I do.

These promises have bound our family together and bound us to our congregations that have helped us live them out. They are life-giving and life-saving and completely, unimaginably, difficult to live up to on our own. Each day and each generation of God's community is gathered in and by grace. Thanks be to God!

Peace to you as you think about the beginning of the education season at Family of Grace and what it means to be on both the giving and receiving end of this grace by which we are all bound.

We are truly, bound for glory.
God's glory.

Peace,Pastor Mark
